Triathlon looms for Julian

14th May 2014

Julian Minshall, one of Indicoll’s most active directors, will be hot-footing it back from the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday to take part in the Driffield sprint triathlon the following day.

Julian, who has learnt to swim in order to take part, has been increasing his training regime in recent months, taking part in the 5K park run and spending his evenings cycling around the beautiful countryside in this area.

As a warm-up for the event, Julian took part in a triathlon on his 52nd birthday in April, alongside his son Matthew, coming in at 2:05. His 5K run time went down from 34 minutes to 28 minutes in the process - showing the training is really paying off.

His swimming lessons have also paid dividends, with Julian now managing to complete 16 lengths of the 25m pool in 14 minutes, where, at the beginning of the year, he struggled his way to half a length before becoming too out of breath to continue.

But this weekend sees the true test of his abilities, and his mettle, as he aims to smash his triathlon time from last month, make his children proud, and raise lots of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care in the process.
